Department of Home Economics

The Department of Home Economics existed when the institution first offered Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Homemaking (BSAH) in 1959. This was later changed to Bachelor of Science in Home Technology (BSHT). In 1984, DHT was renamed, Department of Home Economics (DHE) under the College of Teacher Education (CTE).

With Resolution No. 206, s. 1988 of the Benguet State University Board of Regents, the College of Home Economics and Technology (CHET) was created, separating it from the College of Teacher Education. The Department of Home Economics remained as one of the Departments of the College headed by a Chairman. In 1989, a certificate course in Home Management Arts was offered under the Department of Home Economics.

In March 19, 1988, Board Resolution No. 818, s. 1998 was approved, renaming the BSHE major in Education to BSHE, major in Technology and Home Economics (THE), or BSHE, major in Home Economics and Livelihood Education (HELE).

In December 13, 2000, by virtue of Board Resolution No. 997, s. 2000, the offering of the ladderized Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurial Technology was approved.

In June, 2008, the BSHE curriculum was revitalized, making it a straight Home Economics education program, through the virtue of Board Resolution No. 1701, s. 2008.

As per approval of BOR Resolution No., 2192, s. 2013, the revised BSHE curriculum was implemented.
