Five degree programs were subjected to Level II accreditation by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP) on October 4-6, 2017.

One Bachelor’s degree and four Master’s degrees were visited namely, Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurial Technology, Master of Arts in Physics, Master of Science in Forestry, Master of Arts in General Science, and Master of Science in Physical Education.

Dr. Francis N. Baleta acted as the overall coordinator who was assisted by five team leaders with five accreditors per team. The following team leaders were Dr. Luisita A. Marzan for BS in Entrepreneurial Technnology; Dr. Emerson B. Cuzzamo for the Master of Arts in Physics; Dr. Analyn V. Sagun for Master of Science in Forestry; Dr. Andy L. Catulin for Master of Arts in General Science; and Dr. Reermeline B. Plamo for Master of Science in Physical Education.

Each accreditor presented the strengths and weaknesses of each degree program during the exit conference and closing program at the Administrative Conference Room (AdCoR) on October 6 in the presence of the concerned deans, faculty, and other members of the Administrative Council.

Dr. Baleta, who praised BSU as one of the greatest universities that he has visited so far, narrated his poetic general impressions using the Filipino language.

“Kami’y saludo sa inyong pagpupunyagi, makamit lamang accreditation level na minimithi,” was part of Dr. Baleta’s opening statement.

BSU President Feliciano G. Calora Jr., on the other hand, presented his response and commitment where he mentioned the history of accreditation and his role as an accreditor himself. He also exemplified BSU’s advocacy for quality education and that the role of the Office of Quality Assurance and Accreditation (OQAA) is indispensable.

He further stated that BSU is committed to achieve quality education through ISO 9001:2015, ISO 5500, and ISO 17025. “Bagama’t kami ay magkakaiba ng ugali, kami po ay nag-iisa na ibangon ang Benguet State University,” he concluded.//MDPenchog
