BSU is Third Performing School in Nurses Board Exam

         A student of Benguet State University (BSU) place ninth in the top ten of the nursing licensure examination that also inlcudes five others coming from the Cordillera regrion.

         Jemiah Lyn Bragado passed the licensure examiniation administered by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) with passing rate of 85 percent while the other five who also landed in the top ten came from the Saint Loius University.

        Bragado graduate as Cum Laude in BSU last April this year with an average of 1.5013.

         College of Nursing (CN) Dean Doris Natividad revealed that Bragado was a consistent academic achiever during her time and after graduation, she took up a two-month review class at the Marlon Rey La Bagnoy review center.

          Nativided said this is the first time the college ranked 9th, the highest rank so far after Trixia Marix Garcia landed 10th place during the 2012 licensure examination.

          The 20-year-old Bragado said she was inspired to do well on the exam because of her family, friends and the CN family who kept on advising her to excel. She recognized the strong support and encouragement of the CN family.

99 Percent passing rate

          Natividad was also happy to announce that out of 118 takers of CN, only one failed the exam for a 99.15 percent passing rate nationawide ranking them third overall in the top ten performing schools for the June 2013 Nurse Licensure Examination.

          She added there were eight Cum Laudes from the college who also passed the examination along with Bragado.

          With almost 100 percent of their students passing the exam, Natividad cited their enhanced curriculum.

          She explained that in the 4th year level, they conduct two competency appraisals where they let students review all the subject taken from their lower years up to 3rd year. At the end of the lecture - review, Natividad said, they usually hold an assessment test in order to determine if the students are ready to take the licensure examination.

          During the review sessions, students are encouraged to excel in the licensure examination. Apart from the encouragement, the college is also doing several bonding activities among the CN family.

PRC announced that 16, 219 out of 37, 887 passed that Nurse Licensure Examination given by the Board of Nursing all over the country.

          Raised in Barangay Pico, La Trinidad, Benguet, Jemiah Lyn is the last child of Nestor who is from Ilocos Sur and Theresa from Abra.

          Her two siblings Cindy is a Commerce graduate working in Madrid as bartender and waiter while Lenie is a Computer Engineer graduate and is currently working in a private company in Manila.

          Bragado's mother is a housewife while her father worked as a bartender and baker in the US.// Rubyloida Bitog
