CTE-ELS holds family day

The College of Teacher Education-Elementary Laboratory School (CTE-ELS) successfully conducted its annual family day on March 27, 2018 at the ELS grounds with the theme, “Kapamilyang Pinoy: Kabalikat sa Pagtuturong Kabataan Tungo sa Magandang Kinabukasan.”

Led by the teachers as team leaders, the event began with cheers from the different teams followed by the opening program attended by CTE Dean, Dr. Imelda G. Parcasio; CTE College Sec., Dr. Janet Lynn Montemayor, CTE-Department of Elementary Education Chair, Dr. Divina M. Yango; and CTE-ELS Chair, Dr. Marcelina L. Bolona. The program also featured presentations by the CTE-ELS Music Club under Ms. Yvonne B. Tabdi and the Apilado Family.

After the opening program, the parents and pupils from the different teams enthusiastically played parlor games which includes Calamansi Relay, Tug of War, Coconut Shells Race, Food Relay, Longest Line/Hair, Tug of War,Water Spoon Relay, Planting Straw, Balloon Relay, and Duck Walk Race.

The afternoon was allotted for singing and dancing activities for pupils and their families, with intermission numbers from the Parents Teachers Association Officers (PTA) officers and intern teachers. The day ended with the awarding ceremony and picture taking. The whole-day event was hosted by Teacher Kazimira Bobolla and Teacher Eunice Sagada.

The family day is a venue for CTE-ELS pupils and their families to spend quality time together since studies show that children who does activities with parents on a regular basis establishes emotional well-being, behaves better, are self-confident, develops problem solving skills, have less stress hormones and risk of obesity.//Fely Gabito
