Employees and students honor BSU’s 98 years of existence

Led by the President Ben D. Ladilad and his four Vice-Presidents, the employees and students started celebrating the Benguet State University’s four-day 98th Year Foundation Anniversary with the initial motorcade on June 25, 2014 routed from the BSU Gym to Camp Dangwa, Buyagan-Pico Road to the City Limit and then back to the BSU gym. This activity was followed immediately by an Ecumenical Services celebrated by Bishop Carlito J. Cenzon, Official Opening of the University Exhibits through a Ribbon Cutting ritual then the Opening Ceremonies graced by Benguet Governor Nestor B. Fongwan as the Guest of Honor and Speaker. In his message, the Honorable Governor lauded BSU for being a development partner of the province in supporting the agriculture industry, the livelihood of more than 50% of Benguet’s population. In the same ceremonies, the University also gave a posthumous recognition to Presidente Clemente Laoyan I, who allowed the use of his homestead to establish the La Trinidad Farm School in the early 1900s that has now become the Benguet State University. Institutional partners were recognized as well, these are: the Abatan-Buguias Van Association; Barangay Alno, La Trinidad; Bureau of Agriculture and Fisheries Standards (BAFS); Commission on Higher Education (CHED- Central Office); Department of Budget and Management (DBM-CAR); Department of Education-CAR; Fulbright Commission in the Philippines; Japanese Embassy in Manila; Laoyan Family; Lepanto Foundation; National Organic Agriculture Board (NOAB); Philippine Information Agency (PIA-CAR); Philippine National Police Regional Command; and the Institute of Plant Breeding- UPLB.
