The Institute of Information Technology (IIT) started as the Regional Information Technology Center-Cordillera Administrative Region in 1997 under Dr. Basito Cotiw-an, Prof. Dizon T. Mayos, Mrs. Flordeliza O. Naje, Prof. Canuto S. Paran and Ms. Moses S. Rosario.  IIT was established in May 1999 as per Board of Reagents Resolution Number 877 Series of 1999. 

The Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) is the flagship degree program of the IIT which was also approved for implementation in June 1999.  The BSIT was under the Mathematics-Physics-Statistics Department, College of Arts and Sciences (CAS). In June 2013, the Department of Information Technology was created as another Department of the CAS and offered the BSIT degree program.  

After almost 20 years, the Institute of Information Technology was implemented as another Institute in the Benguet State University in January 2019.  The Department of Information Technology is already the academic department of the IIT offering the BSIT degree program. 


1. The IIT aims to train the student/trainee on the proper use of Information Technology to enable him to be productive and become useful member of the society
2. The IIT seeks to develop critical thinking, effective communication, sound judgment and proper formation of values


The IIT is geared towards the preparation of students/trainees for responsible leadership and for creative and useful membership of society through the proper utilization of Information Technology.
