Benguet State University (BSU), through the Intellectual Property Management Office (IPMO), conducted a seminar on Intellectual Property (IP) Management, Technology Transfer, Creative Work, and Instructional Materials Development at the Northern Philippine Root Crops Research and Training Center.

Office of Extension Services Director Cheryll Casiwan-Launio opened the program by emphasizing the importance of understanding board-approved policies on technology transfer, instructional material development, and intellectual property. She stressed that these are key performance indicators for the university and encouraged participants to actively ask questions so that policies can be further refined in future revisions.

During the training proper, IPMO Director Cynthia D. Garambas presented BSU’s IP Policy and implementing guidelines, as well as protocols on technology transfer and spin-off creation. This was followed by Instructional Material Development Division Head Divina M. Yango, who discussed the instructional material development process, and Instructional Development Division and Creative Work Chief Karen O. Laking, who tackled the Creative Work Policy.

IP Chief Assets Protection Division Chief Rashid B. Lokines delivered the closing remarks, thanking participants for their attendance and engagement despite the inclement weather. He underscored the value of these discussions in protecting BSU’s intellectual assets and supporting innovation within the university.//EBawang
