In celebration of its 110th Foundation Anniversary, Benguet State University (BSU) mobilized faculty members and staff from various colleges, offices, and units for a campus-wide tree-planting, tree-rearing, and weeding activity.

The activity was organized by the College of Forestry, Department of Environmental Science, Center for Geoinformatics, and International Relations Office, emphasizing not only the planting of new trees but also the continued care and maintenance of those already established within the campus.

The activity began with an opening program at the Administration Building, followed by the deployment of participants to their designated areas. To ensure systematic implementation, the university premises were divided into seven clusters, with each group assigned specific areas for tree planting, rearing, weeding, and maintenance.

Participants planted an assortment of fruit-bearing and forest tree species, including citrus, avocado, langka, guava, mabolo, coffee, narra, acacia, and golden shower. The selection of these species contributes to campus greening while promoting the establishment of trees that can provide ecological, aesthetic, and potential food resources for the university community.

More than a tree-planting activity, the initiative highlighted the importance of sustained environmental stewardship. By bringing together employees from different colleges and offices, BSU strengthened its collective effort to maintain a greener and more sustainable campus.

The activity concluded with the consolidation of monitoring and evaluation. As part of the 110th Foundation Anniversary, the initiative reflects BSU’s continuing commitment to environmental responsibility, campus sustainability, and shared community action toward a greener university.//
