Ifugao State University – Potia Campus staff members and Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering (BSCpE) students visited Benguet State University’s Northern Philippine Root Crops and Training Center (NPRCRTC) on June 27, 2025. The visit was part of IFSU’s initiative to expose students to the actual industry work.

The group, headed by Marvin D. Mayormente, Chairperson of the BSCpE program, participated in a discussion held at the NPRCRTC. Alma D. Santiago, staff member of the Training and Extension Division, presented an overview of the center’s operations and activities.

After the presentation, Jennie B. Balao, Chief of the Crop Management and Seed Production Division, discussed the micropropagation of root crops. Gabby K. Dao-ines, also from the Crop Management and Seed Production Division, explained the aeroponic process and how potato seeds are produced. He also toured the visitors to the potato greenhouse facility, where they observed the technology used.

John D. Dolinas, another staff member of the Crop Management and Seed Production Division, also shared the processes of the seed yam aeroponics and toured the visitors to the facility.

The visit ended with a thankful message from Mayormente to the NPRCRTC for accommodating them. BSU accommodates benchmarking activities and field trips from schools, Local Government Units, National Line Agencies, and Non-Government Organizations with the intent to promote collaboration in various areas that may lead to multi-stakeholder partnerships in support of #SDG17.//BTayaban
