As part of an academic exposure program, second-year Bachelor of Science in Hospitality and Tourism Management (BSHTM) students accompanied by faculty member, Rodney C. Abaigar from Eastern Visayas State University – Tacloban Campus (EVSU – TC) visited BSU’s College of Home Economics and Technology on August 8, 2025.
The visit aimed to provide students with valuable exposure to best practices in hospitality, agritourism and academic-industry integration. The delegation was welcomed by the CHET-Department of Hospitality and Management (DHM) faculty members; Amelia G. Bawang, Greg B. Landocan and DHM Chairperson Florida S. Rosario. The students had a short lecture on the best practices regarding customer service and food and beverage services.
Bawang provided the lecture on customer service emphasizing tips and importance of proper attitude in providing service. Landocan then discussed the topic on food and beverage service, sharing his personal experiences on understanding customer needs and preference. Abaigar then awarded certificates to the faculty members as appreciation for sharing their valuable knowledge to the students.
Following the lecture, the BSHTM students were toured to the Food Processing and the Gladiola Center to observe the facilities. BSU accommodates benchmarking activities and field trips from schools, Local Government Units, National Line Agencies, and Non-Government Organizations with the intent to promote collaboration in various areas that may lead to multi-stakeholder partnerships in support of #SDG17.//DPaydowan&LGuzman
