Faculty members from the College of Social Sciences (CSS) joined the celebration of National Indigenous Peoples Month at Benguet National High School (BeNHS) on November 4, 2025. The culminating event featured Cordillera cultural dances, songs, traditional foods, and exhibits. CSS faculty members served as judges for contests such as the Cordillera mini-museum and local food exhibit.
Beyond this active involvement of the faculty members, the event stood as a direct outcome of the College’s extension initiatives, particularly its seminars and workshops on indigenous content and pedagogy conducted for teachers in the Benguet Schools Division. According to Ros Jansel Gualdo, a Master Teacher at BeNHS, the event was a tangible result of these training programs, which equipped teachers with the knowledge and strategies to integrate indigenous knowledge systems into their curricular and school activities. Outcomes like this reflect the sustained efforts of the College of Social Sciences to advance its goals of promoting indigenous knowledge and preserving cultural heritage.
This collaboration between CSS and the Department of Education–Schools Division of Benguet is anchored in a Memorandum of Agreement first signed in 2021 and renewed this year, marking a continuing partnership for cultural education and community engagement.//MApnoyan (CSS Information Coordinator)
