Benguet State University (BSU) submitted seven degree programs for evaluation by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP) during the Online Accreditation First Survey Visit.
The five-day event formally began with an opening meeting held on March 16, 2026, where VP for Academic Affairs Janet P. Pablo welcomed the accreditors, officials, and participants, followed by a message from University President Kenneth A. Laruan.
Office for Quality Assurance and Accreditation Director Joanna I. Alafag introduced the BSU officials and overall coordinators who will assist in the accreditation process. The local task force was also introduced by College of Arts and Humanities Dean Ronda B. Tulay, College of Human Kinetics Dean Marlon S. Tabdi, College of Natural Sciences Dean Sherlyn C. Tipayno, and College of Education-Buguias Campus Dean Elizabeth M. Bay-an.
Afterwards, Cluster I Coordinator Christopher S. Vicencio and Cluster II Coordinator Isidro L. Duran presented their fellow AACCUP accreditors, presented the accreditation rubrics, and gave the statement of purpose.
The survey visit included document verification, interviews, and virtual campus tours. The programs evaluated were: Bachelor of Arts in Communication, Bachelor of Arts in English Language, Bachelor of Arts in Filipino Language, Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sports Science, Bachelor of Science in Biology, Bachelor of Physical Education, and Bachelor of Technical Vocational Teacher Education.
At the closing meeting on March 20, 2026, AACCUP Accrediting Team Coordinators Christopher S. Vicencio and Isidro L. Duran shared their impressions, highlighting the strengths and offering recommendations for further improvement.
In response, VP for Administration and Finance Richard H. Kinnud, representing President Laruan, expressed the University’s commitment to quality education and gratitude to the accreditors.
“We reaffirm a stronger and more comprehensive commitment, not only to sustain what has been achieved but to elevate it further,” he said.
He also likened the accreditation process to the tale of the shoemaker, where beautifully crafted pairs of shoes were made with the help of unseen helpers.
“Like the tale of a shoemaker, let us be reminded that excellence is not achieved alone,” he added.
The event concluded with remarks from Buguias Campus Administrator Jerry S. Landacan, who thanked the BSU administration and the local task force for their support throughout the survey visit. //PGadang, EBawayan
