The Regional Quality Assurance Team (RQAT) in-charge of the Medical and Health Related programs and the Regional Quality Assessment Team (RQAT) of the Commission on Higher Education-Cordillera Administrative Region (CHED-CAR) evaluated BSU’s Doctor of Medicine Program on December 10, 2024. This is to assess its compliance with CHED requirements for the issuance of the Certificate of Program Compliance (CoPC). The two teams are comprised of Dr. Godfrey G. Mendoza, Dr. Shiela Marie Esther S. Villanueva and Dr. John Anthony Domatay.

In a message, VP for Academic Affairs Samuel S. Poliden thanked the evaluators and expressed his hope that the program will be opened soon. Poliden explained that if BSU will pass the Regional RQAT evaluation, another evaluation will be done by the National RQAT Teams, the results will then be submitted to the BSU Board of Regents (BOR) who will decide for its endorsement to the CHED Commission En Banc. The Commission En Banc headed by CHED Commissioner J. Prospero “Popoy” de Vera III will then make the final decision whether the program is ready to be offered. BSU is currently preparing for the upcoming stages of the process.

Poliden’s message was followed by the sharing of the College of Medicine’s (CM) history of preparations by Dean Dr. Ruel G. Revilla.

The RQAT teams then proceeded to review documents, interview key personnel, and conduct an ocular inspection of the CM facilities.

Their findings were later reported during the exit conference. University President Kenneth A. Laruan and Dr. Revilla acknowledged the areas that needed improvement and confirmed their commitment to meeting further requirements.

The establishment of the BSU College of Medicine was approved by the BSU BOR through BOR Resolution No. 42. s.2023 and the Doctor of Medicine Program curriculum was approved through BOR Resolution No. 42a, s.2023. //BTayaban
