The Gender and Development (GAD) Office, in collaboration with the College of Nursing (CN), spearheaded an open training/workshop titled “Period Positive: Educate, Empower, Embrace” with the theme “Empowering the Youth Through Menstrual Awareness and Support” on August 17-19, 2025.

The initiative aimed to train and nurture advocates by enhancing their knowledge and understanding of menstrual health. Resource speakers included Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA) – Philippines National Chapter President Marcia Suzanne O. Bicomong; YWCA – National Youth Coordinating Council (NYCC) President Jessica M. Deboton; Oxford Committee for Famine Relief (Oxfam) – Philippines Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights Specialist Cecillia A. Villa; Haliya Cup Founder Rodessa Austria Fajarcito; BSU Gender and Development Director Jude L. Tayaben; CN Dean Mark Gay-as; and CN Faculty Members Ervina Luisa D. Campus, Jonalyn S. Esco, Jocylyn W. Angeles, and Mhyrlynejee S. Camdas.

The three-day event was held at the International Relations Office function hall. It concluded with a pinning ceremony and oath-taking of the newly trained advocates, followed by the turn-over of a monetary donation from YWCA President Bicomong to support the establishment of the YWCA-BSU Chapter.//EBawang
