The Development Communication Society (DCS) marked its 26th anniversary with the theme, “DEVCOM AMPLIFIED: 26 Years of Embodying Excellence” at the Benguet State University (BSU) Centennial Park from March 19-21, 2025.

The three-day celebration was filled with activities that fostered enthusiasm and excitement among DevCom students, faculty, and staff.

Day 1 began with a parade featuring students, faculty, and staff, led by the BSU- Center for Culture and Arts (CCA) Kontad from the BSU Clinic to Centennial Park. Each section donned their assigned color and yelled their creative cheer.

After which, a Thanksgiving Service by Rev. Dale Formanez Pinzon was held in the Centennial Park. Then, the opening program officially commenced, which was graced by BSU President Dr. Kenneth A. Laruan. The keynote speaker, Atty. Hezy Jane C. Paculan, shared her inspiring journey and practical tips from her student days. Certificates and tokens were awarded, and DCS President Bannie Budikey presented an overview of activities and a donation drive for an April outreach.

In the afternoon, a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the students’ booths was conducted by one judge and a representative from each booth, followed by the judging of the students’ booths alongside the DevCom Harana, an open mic for those who wish to showcase their singing skills or simply dedicate a song to the audience.

The day concluded with socialization through the DevCom Kapistahan. Interactive booths offering treats and crafts—such as Half-of-half Café, JH’s Shawarma, Tea Botiyog, Mightee Krafts, and The Pixie Stargirl—added vibrancy to the event.

Day 2 started with a blood donation activity in partnership with the Red Cross-Benguet Chapter. Simultaneously, first and second year students attended the DevCom talks in the CIS Building. Then, onsite competitions—including a quiz bee, spelling bee, DevCom article writing contest, and extemporaneous speech—were held in the morning. In the afternoon, third- and fourth-year students had their own DevCom talks, while others attended classes. By 3 PM, everyone reassembled at Centennial Park for another session of DevCom Harana and Kapistahan, which included the sack race, human centipede, human caterpillar, tug-of-war, and volleyball balloon.

Day 3 began with a webinar-seminar led by Dr. Shari Eunice T. San Pablo on the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) as an ally rather than a shortcut. Spoken poetry performances followed at the Centennial Park.

In the afternoon, Dr. Lita P. Molitas-Colting delivered a speech encouraging students to take pride and become an inspiration to others during the closing program. Intermission by students from each year level and section, as well as the faculty members, was presented, adding entertainment before the awarding of winners of various competitions. Bachelor of Science in Development Communication (BSDC) 1B emerged as the overall champion, dominating BSDC 1A by a 1-point lead.

The event concluded with a heartfelt candle-lighting ceremony where students and faculty formed a large circle. This was followed by a community dance and a potluck dinner that brought everyone together in celebration.
