College of Agriculture brings back technology caravan to Sablan in celebration of CA’s 40th anniversary alongside Sablan’s 1st Barangay Farmers, Livestock, Fisherfolks Congress on May 15, 2024, at the Barangay Multi-Purpose Hall, Banengbeng, Sablan.

With Sablan’s adoption of the Farmers and Fisherfolks’ month theme, “Magsasaka’t Mangingisdang Pilipino, Saludo and Buong Bansa sa Sipag, Tibay at Lakas Nito,” the program centered services to the farmers and fisherfolks of the barangay.

Experts from the College of Agriculture, Cordillera Regional Apiculture Center, College of Veterinary Medicine, and Cordillera Center for Animal Research & Development shared different insights and services to the farmers, together with the assistance of the Office of Extension Services staff.

Barangay Captain Hon. James A Rafael thanked the participants and resource speakers for their efforts to attend the event. He emphasized the timeliness of the activity, as he stated, “ada maenencounter tayo siguro nga saksakit dagitoy mulmula, dagiti ananimal tayo…dagitoy tilapia,” and encouraged the participants to listen to the resource persons.

The experts or resource persons offered services like soil analysis, diagnosing, and treating plant and animal diseases, managing pests and diseases, beekeeping, and other related subjects. Farmers in Banengbeng, Sablan were asked to bring soil and plant species samples for examination and diagnosis. Experts also entertained questions concerning problems with their plants and animals.

The activity marks the start of the series of techno caravans this year.//
