MANDATE: The Intellectual Property Rights Office is a vital component of the University, operating under the Office of the Vice President for Research and Extension. Its primary objective is to oversee and regulate all intellectual property rights activities within the institution.
The IPRO serves as a dynamic hub for innovation, technology transfer, and licensing support. By embracing flexibility and adaptability, the IPRO ensures its ability to navigate the ever-evolving landscape of intellectual property rights, while effectively fostering innovation and facilitating technology transfer initiatives.

Divisions

  • Assets Management Division
    The assets and management division head holds a crucial role, encompassing a variety of significant tasks and responsibilities. These includes:
    • Organizing and coordinating an IP Audit Team to evaluate technologies for registration of intellectual property rights;
    • Drafting confidentiality agreements to facilitate research activities and IP audits;
    • Assisting project leaders in the preparing technology documents for evaluation; and
    • Managing the registration of intellectual properties with the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines.
  • Technology Transfer and Licensing Program
    The position of the technology transfer and licensing divisi9on head is of utmost importance, as it encompasses a wide range of significant tasks and responsibilities. These include:
    • Identifying and recommending technologies suitable for either technology transfer or licensing purposes;
    • Assessing the technology readiness level of the technologies generated in the university;
    • Valuating the commercial potential of technologies generated in the university;
    • Drafting agreements with potential licensees for technologies generated by the university;
    • Establishing connections and partnership with various industries; and
    • Implementing a robust system to monitor intellectual property assets and enforce intellectual property rights.
  • Education and Training Division
    The role of the Education and Training Division head is paramount importance, as it involves a multitude of crucial tasks and responsibilities. These encompass:
    • Coordinating the seamless integration of intellectual property into the curriculum, ensuring that students are equipped with a comprehensive understanding of its significance;
    • Developing informative and engaging materials on IP and facilitating the dissemination of knowledge throughout the university;
    • Promoting and disseminating the groundbreaking technologies generated by researchers, ensuring their valuable contributions reach a wider audience;
    • Designing and implementing seminars, training programs, and various IP-related activities, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development within the university community; and
    • Facilitating experiential activities that enhances the capabilities of the researchers, whether through organizing workshops or strengthening their skills in IP-related areas.
  • Data Management Division
    The position of the Data Management Division Head holds immense significance, as it encompasses a diverse range of vital tasks and responsibilities. These include:
    • Establishing and maintaining a comprehensive IP database within the university, ensuring that valuable information is organized and easily accessible;
