Benguet State University-College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) led the October 13 University flag-raising ceremony. After the ceremony, CVM led BSU’s celebration of the National Animal Welfare Week with the theme “Care and Respect: The Heart of Filipinos for Animals.”
CVM faculty member Dr. Alken M. Sasa gave a background on the celebration and announced the activities of the CVM in support of the animal welfare advocacy.
University President Kenneth A. Laruan then officiated the oath taking of the newly elected Faculty Club officers.
BSU students were recognized for their achievements in various events and competitions. College of Home Economics and Technology (CHET) faculty member Florida S. Rosario announced the results of the Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism Week participated by CHET students held at Baguio Country Club. The results are as

Haduca will be representing the Division of Benguet in the upcoming 2025 Science and Math Regional Festival of Talents. The group of Decoyna, De La Cruz, and Tica-a will also be representing the same division in the regional level.
Afterwards, College of Public Administration Dean Gretchen C. Ablaza announced the opening of the CPAG week. She encouraged everyone to participate in the upcoming college activities. College of Information Sciences faculty member Ivy Jane Miguel shared updates on the Poster Making contest focused on BSU’s new slogan, “Sustaining Futures, Transforming Communities, and Shaping Minds.”
In his message, Laruan congratulated the students and coaches who took part in the various competitions and events. He also highlighted the importance of animal welfare, noting the benefits of having pets at home like relieving stress and teaching responsibility.
The ceremony was followed by a ribbon-cutting and unveiling of the exhibit featuring entries to the poster competition organized by the College of Information Sciences at the administration building lobby. The competition aimed to visualize BSU’s new slogan- Shaping Minds, Transforming Communities, Sustaining Futures.

The Flag Raising Ceremony and the short program that follows it usually consisting of announcements, recognition of student and employee achievements, physical exercises, performances and speeches from guests and university officials is a regular activity of BSU that supports and contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals specifically #Goal3, #Goal4, #Goal8, #Goal10, #Goal16, and #Goal17. In essence, the activity serves as a regular platform to reinforce values, disseminate information, and celebrate achievements.
