The Office of Student Services (OSS) through the Student with Special Needs, Persons with Disabilities, and Disadvantaged Students program, launched an Inclusive Center for Assistive Resources and Empowerment (i.C.A.R.E) Hub located at the OSS Social Hall on February 27, 2026.

The hub offers academic and accessibility support, assistive devices and ICT lab use, referral section, linkages to other government assistance, and safe, inclusive spaces and advocacy. This is open for students with special needs, disabilities, and disadvantaged students including student-parent, students who belong to Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas, low income household, Indigenous People, and working students.

Following the opening remarks by University President Kenneth A. Laruan, the launching of the iCARE hub was highlighted with a ribbon-cutting led by Laruan together with VP for Academic Affairs Janet P. Pablo, Supervising Administrative Officer Raymundo H. Pawid Jr., Gender and Development Director Jude L. Tayben, and OSS Director Erlyn Honeylette C. Marquez.

Tayaben then shared his insights about the Inclusion in Education and Safe Spaces highlighting the available services the university offers when catering student needs. He also discussed the Republic Act 11313 also knows as the Safe Spaces Act reminding every student of their right to feel secure and respected on campus.

The program concluded with awarding of certificate and a message of gratitude from Marquez to the participants.//DPaydowan
