Benguet State University and the Department of Education-Schools Division of Benguet signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) at the International Relations Office to collaborate on education, extension, and research.

BSU, through the Center for Educational Research and Innovation (CERI), Office of Extension Services (OES), and College of Teacher Education (CTE), and the DepEd- Schools Division of Benguet, agreed to provide a collaborative support system in the implementation of extension activities under the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU) project.

The partnership focused on collaboratively implementing the project titled “GALATIS DI ADAL: A community-based empowerment and capacity building for parents, teachers, and youth,” an initiative under the Sustainable and Inclusive Peace and Transformation (SIPAT) program.

The project aims to provide educational support, skills development, capacity-building, and community empowerment initiatives in selected provinces, including Benguet, Mountain Province, Apayao, and Kalinga. The activities include wellness advocacy for youth, action research training for teachers, livelihood and skills enhancement, and literacy and numeracy support for parents.

As agreed, BSU will lead the research and extension activities, knowledge sharing, and monitoring and evaluation of the extension project. Likewise, DepEd will assign focal persons for the project activities and cooperate in monitoring and evaluation of the extension activities.

The MOA was signed by BSU President Kenneth A. Laruan and DepEd-Schools Division of Benguet Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Carmel B. Meris, the signing was witnessed by officials from both parties.
