Personnel from the High Value Crops Development Program of the Department of Agriculture-CAR together with Adrian Verueco of the Teofilo Coffee Company visited Benguet State University for a benchmarking activity.

The delegation was welcomed by the Northern Philippine Root Crops Research and Training Center (NPRCRTC) team led by Grace S. Backian. The group discussed purple yam production processes, the challenges encountered, and training programs by the NPRCRTC.

The activity concluded with a guided tour to the purple yam greenhouses where cultivation practices are showcased.

BSU accommodates benchmarking activities and field trips from schools, Local Government Units, National Line Agencies, and Non-Government Organizations with the intent to promote collaboration in various areas that may lead to multi-stakeholder partnerships in support of #SDG17.//DPaydowan
