Delegates from the Eastern Visayas State University Tanauan Campus visited Benguet State University for a benchmarking activity intended to gain insights into the University’s research, publication, intellectual property, and extension programs.
The delegation first paid a courtesy visit to BSU President Kenneth Laruan before proceeding with the benchmarking activity.
During the visit, representatives from the Office of Extension Services (OES), Intellectual Property Management Office (IPMO), and Research and Extension Publication Office (REPO) provided brief presentations on their respective mandates, processes, and key initiatives. The presentations highlighted BSU’s practices in extension delivery, intellectual property management, technology transfer, and research publication.
The presentations were followed by an open discussion with BSU VP for Research and Extension Roscinto Ian Lumbres, OES and REPO Director Cheryll Launio, and IPMO Director Cynthia Garambas.
Among the topics discussed were the commercialization of technologies, journal publication processes, funding mechanisms for research and extension programs, good practices in journal management, extension service implementation, and the development of partnerships and linkages with various stakeholders.
The benchmarking activity provided an opportunity for knowledge exchange and institutional learning, enabling delegates to gain a deeper understanding of BSU’s systems and practices while building stronger ties between the two institutions.
BSU accommodates benchmarking activities and field trips from schools, Local Government Units, National Line Agencies, and Non-Government Organizations with the intent to promote collaboration in various areas that may lead to multi-stakeholder partnerships in support of #SDG17.//CDDeguzman
