Personnel from the Negros Oriental State University (NORSU)-Office of the University Enterprise Development led by Director Pirl I. Enquilino visited Benguet State University (BSU) for a benchmarking activity focused on Income Generating Projects (IGPs), and business affairs management.
The visitors were welcomed by personnel from the University Business Affairs sector led by VP for Business Affairs Josel M. Florentin. The visit featured discussions and an exchange of insights on university enterprise management and practices in response to NORSU’s interest in strengthening its University Enterprise Development (UED) Office.
With the benchmarking activity, NORSU aimed to gain insights about enterprise governance, financial management, internal controls, IGP policies and procedures, business planning, sustainability, and performance monitoring. It also sought to explore practices in agribusiness, value-adding activities, and technology transfer and commercialization.
The visitors went to the BSU Bakery Project, BSU Food Processing Center, and BSU Marketing Center to observe the University’s income-generating operations. They also visited the College of Medicine and the Gender and Development Office to gain additional perspectives on the University’s programs and practices.
The activity forms part of NORSU’s continuing efforts to improve its enterprise operations in response to recommendations from a Commission on Audit (COA) Audit Observation Memorandum. Through the benchmarking activity, NORSU sought practical insights that could inform improvements to its policies, operating manuals, financial management systems, internal controls, and overall governance of its income-generating projects.
The benchmarking activity provided an opportunity for BSU and NORSU to strengthen institutional linkages and explore potential areas of cooperation in enterprise development, innovation, and sustainable resource generation. //WMarcos
