The University Business Affairs (UBA) Office in partnership with the Department of Tourism Cordillera Administrative Region (DOT-CAR), conducted the Filipino Brand of Service Excellence (FBSE) Training to strengthen service delivery and promote Filipino hospitality among tourism frontliners. The activity was facilitated by the Department of Hospitality Management under the College of Human Ecology (CHE) of Benguet State University (BSU).
The training featured Grace C. Canave, FBSE Regional Trainer, as the resource speaker. It was organized as one of the activities of the first UBA Festival.
In his opening remarks, Dalifer A. Gano of the UBA Business Development Services appreciated DOT-CAR for supporting the training. He emphasized the importance of equipping frontliners with the knowledge and skills needed to provide excellent service, particularly those serving university clients and visitors in tourism-related establishments, including strawberry farms.
This was further emphasized by DOT-CAR Regional Director Jovita A. Ganongan. In her message, she emphasized the goal of establishing a distinct national brand of excellent service for tourists, making outstanding service a hallmark of the Filipino experience.
The message further highlighted that the FBSE program aims to help tourism frontliners learn, embody, and practice the core Filipino values that define the country’s renowned hospitality. It also underscored the importance of providing quality service that reflects Filipino values and promotes customer satisfaction.
Developed by the Department of Tourism with the assistance of experts, the FBSE module has undergone continuous improvement to strengthen service standards and encourage the consistent delivery of quality service across the tourism industry.
The training covered Filipino values and service excellence, social media, understanding guests, delivering great service, and handling guest concerns and complaints. These topics aimed to enhance participants’ understanding of customer needs and equip them with practical approaches to addressing concerns and delivering satisfactory service.
Through the activity, participants were encouraged to become advocates of service excellence in their respective fields and contribute to positive and memorable experiences for visitors.
The facilitation of the activity by the CHE Department of Hospitality Management highlights the department’s role in supporting tourism education and promoting service standards aligned with the needs of the tourism industry.
The initiative reflects BSU and DOT-CAR’s continuing efforts to promote Filipino hospitality, strengthen the capabilities of tourism frontliners, and advance quality service in support of the tourism industry in the Cordillera Administrative Region.//NSudaypan
