The Benguet State University Government Employees Association Inc. (BSUGEA) hosted this year’s University Thanksgiving celebration.
In his opening remarks, VP for Research and Extension Roscinto Ian. C Lumbres emphasized that the celebration is not about the incentives or achievements but is because of the birth of Jesus Christ. He also reminded everyone of the importance of love, forgiveness, and compassion. This was further emphasized by University President Kenneth A. Laruan who highlighted that the atonement of Jesus Christ at the cross to redeem people from sin, death and adversity is a significant part of what is being celebrated this Christmas season.
Laruan wished everyone a prosperous and healthy new year, encouraging them to carry the positive energy and achievements of 2024 into the coming years.
He also expressed his gratitude to all BSU employees for their contributions to the university’s accomplishments for the year 2024.
“The administration recognizes the contributions of the men and women of Benguet State University. Kung ano man po ang naging success natin ngayong taon, iyon po ay dahil sa inyong contribution. On behalf of our BSU administration, we would like to express our thanks,” Laruan stated.
One of the event highlights was the singing competition participated by BSU employees. The competition began with the duet category followed by the solo performances and ended with the choir category. BSU Glee Club Adviser Liezl B. Villagracia, Church of Epiphany Choir Conductor and Teacher Bienvenido Constantino Jr., and together with Adamson N. Labi and Loy W. Fanged of the Dandelions Duo served as judges in the competition.
The College of Teacher Education (CTE) employees decided not to join this year’s competition as they are already Hall of Famers for consistently winning the same competition in the past years.
Other activities included team-building games, trivia questions, raffle draws, and intermission numbers from the CTE and the Dandelions Duo.
VP for Administration and Finance Allan C. Sacpa delivered the closing remarks. He also emphasized the true essence of the Christmas Season and reminded everyone to share their time and extend help to others in need. //PJG
