Benguet State University (BSU) honored employees whose dedication, accomplishments, and years of service have helped shape the institution during the Everlasting Praise Awards and Recognitions.
The recognition formed part of the university’s 110th Foundation Anniversary anchored on the theme, “Flourishing in Excellence Through CQommunity-Centric Innovations and Partnerships.” The PRAISE Everlasting Awards is among BSU’s continuing efforts to recognize employees whose work contributes to the university’s institutional goals.
In his opening remarks, VP for Administration and Finance Richard H. Kinnud emphasized that the ceremony was more than a presentation of plaques and awards. It was an opportunity to recognize the people whose often-unnoticed work contributes to the university’s success.
Kinnud likened recognition to the story of the Frog Prince, where appreciation reveals the worth that is already present. stressing that awards similarly bring to light the extraordinary commitment, creativity, dedication, and service that may exist beneath the routine of everyday work.
He also underscored the importance of accompaniment, the people who guide, encourage, challenge, support, and walk alongside employees throughout their careers.
“We do not succeed entirely on our own. At different points in our careers, someone accompanies us” he said
He extended the university’s appreciation to colleagues, offices, families, and friends who have supported the awardees throughout their professional journeys.
In his inspirational message, University President Kenneth A. Laruan congratulated the awardees and retirees while emphasizing that the university’s accomplishments are collective achievements.
He pointed to BSU’s accomplishments in areas such as performance, rankings, and other institutional milestones, stressing that these achievements are made possible by the men and women working across the university.
“Behind these accomplishments are actually the men and women of Benguet State University. This is not just the executive office’s accomplishment, but it is everybody’s accomplishment.” Laruan said.
He also called on the BSU community to remember three things: honor the past, cherish the present, and continue the legacy of excellence.
He paid tribute to retirees and past employees whose dedication and sacrifices helped shape the university, while challenging present employees to carry that legacy forward.
Laruan emphasized that BSU’s future rests on its people and their continued commitment to the institution’s mission.
“We may belong to different generations, but we are one BSU family by the work we have shared, the legacy we are making, and the future we hope to build.” He said
A major part of the ceremony was the presentation of the Loyalty Awards, honoring employees who have completed 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, and 40 years of service to BSU.The recognition of long-serving employees served as a reminder that BSU’s history is carried not only by policies and programs but also by the people who have spent years building and sustaining them.
Closing the ceremony, VP for Research and Extension Roscinto Ian C. Lumbres highlighted the sheer number and diversity of individuals recognized during the event as a reflection of the university’s culture of excellence.
He noted that recognition extended beyond individual accomplishments to outstanding teaching and non-teaching employees, organizational offices, innovators, business advisers, student organizers and advisers, and employees who have dedicated decades of service to BSU.
“Excellence is not simply something we recognize. It is something we continue to practice through our work and service.”
Lumbres connected the celebration to the university’s 110th Foundation Anniversary theme, “Flourishing Excellence through Community-Centric Innovation Partnership,” emphasizing that excellence becomes more meaningful when it creates value beyond the university.
He recognized the students taught, farmers served, clients assisted, communities reached, and partners engaged by BSU employees.
He also acknowledged the nominees who were not selected for awards, reminding them that their contributions remain valuable to the institution.
The Everlasting Praise Awards and Recognitions ultimately celebrated more than individual achievements. It highlighted the collective effort behind BSU’s continuing development from employees who have given four decades of service to those whose daily contributions help classrooms, laboratories, offices, fields, research stations, and extension sites function.
The ceremony also recognized the role of families, colleagues, offices, administrators, partners, and other members of the university community in accompanying employees throughout their careers.
As BSU moves forward into another chapter of its history, the celebration affirmed that the institution’s greatest strength remains its people those who have served in the past, those who serve today, and those who will carry the university’s mission into the future.
“Behind every recognition are the students you taught, the farmers you served, the client that you served, and the team that helped keep the university moving forward.” Lumbres said
The ceremony closed with a renewed call for the BSU community to bring the values of puso, katapatan, and service into their respective workplaces and communities, continuing a tradition of excellence grounded in meaningful service.//NSudaypan, EBawang
