A total of 97 employees and four retirees were recognized during the PRAISE EVERLASTING Awards on January 15, 2025. The event, organized by the Human Resource Development Office and the Human Resource Management Office, honored employees and retirees for their years of government service.
The awards presented during the ceremony were the Salamat-Mabuhay Award, the Milestone Award, and the Loyalty Award. The Salamat-Mabuhay Award was given to retirees, the Milestone Award was awarded to those who completed 10 years of government service, and the Loyalty Award was presented to employees who served for 15 to 40 years.
In a message, BSU BSU President Kenneth A. Laruan emphasized that human resources, which comprises of the talents, skills, knowledge, and competencies of employees are the most important for an organization. He added that while complaints occur from limited financial resources, it is evident that human resources would still enable the successful implementation of programs, activities, and projects. President Laruan further said that the achievements of the university are the result of the contributions from every employee, regardless of whether they have served for 10 or 40 years.
On the other hand, VP for Administration and Finance Richard H. Kinnud described working in BSU as more than just a job but a commitment to public service especially in education. He further stated that it is a testament in creating a brighter future for the community not only in the province but for the nation. Kinnud clarified that recognizing years of service is not just about the time spent but also the resilience and dedication that came with it. It also symbolizes the shared mission in building a better society.
Norma P. Banania, a Loyalty Awardee for her 40 years of service, shared her motivations on why she remained at the university for so long. She emphasized that what is important is that she knows in her heart what really happened amidst praise, criticism, or discredit.
“No one should define you based on failure from the past,” she said, encouraging everyone to consistently do their best in their roles.
Banania also highlighted that while we may not be able to control every situation and its outcome, we can control our attitude and how we respond to it.
“Do good, be kind, be humble, and rewards will come back in many ways,” she advised and expressed her hopes that BSU will remember her as someone who is behind the BSU bread.
Next, Felipe Salaing Comila, former BSU President and a Salamat-Mabuhay awardee, encouraged everyone to work hard on improving themselves in order to achieve their desired positions. Chief Administrative Officer Matias C. Angiwan Jr. followed this by reiterating that the PRAISE EVERLASTING Awards is a way of recognizing the value of work and service.//BTayaban
