In line with its commitment to promoting good governance and strengthening institutional capacity, the Benguet State University Human Resource Development Office (HRDO) conducted a three-day training titled Heads of Offices and Designates’ Investiture for Good Governance (HOODING) on September 14–16, 2026, at the Solibao Hall, NPRCRTC.
The activity gathered administrative officers and next-in-rank personnel from BSU La Trinidad, Bokod, and Buguias Campus. It aimed to strengthen competencies in leading teams and supporting effective institutional operations.
VP for Administration and Finance Richard H. Kinnud, in his opening remarks, emphasized that leadership centers on collective growth among people.
“…our goal is to create strong organization here at Benguet State University. And a strong organization is not about having someone only grow very tall, but we hope that the opportunity will spread to everyone,” he said.
University President Kenneth A. Laruan further strengthened the training’s purpose: empowering participants, building capabilities, and preparing future office leaders to ensure good governance.
He emphasized the spirit of collaborative leadership. Using an ecosystem analogy, he explained that achievement of the University’s vision, mission, and goals relies on the collaborative efforts of the different sectors — the administration and finance, research and extension, instruction, and the business affairs.
“I hope that through this HOODING activity, we strengthen our competence, leadership, collaboration, and sense of responsibility,” he stressed, adding that leadership is defined by service quality and positive impact.
Rev. Sam B. Galino served as the Learning Service Provider during the three-day activity, integrating reflective learning and practical activities throughout the sessions.
Galino discussed the topic Leading with Purpose: Assessing, Reflecting, and Growing as a Purpose-Driven Leader, where participants identified their purpose through self-assessment tools. Other topics included Communication Across Boundaries: Navigating and Addressing Communication Gaps and Organizational Disconnects, which featured conflict management, and Next-Generation Leadership: Strategic and Systems Thinking for Leading Change, Innovation, Organizational Resilience, and Sustainability.
The activity concluded with closing remarks from OIC-Administrative Services Division Chief Raymundo H. Pawid Jr., who challenged participants to embrace three core learnings: Reflect, Connect, and Lead.//EBawayan
