BSU underwent its second ISO 9001:2015 surveillance audit by TÜV Rheinland. The audit aimed to verify the University’s ongoing compliance with international standards and the maintenance of its ISO certification. The evaluation covered all BSU campuses, including La Trinidad, Bokod, and Buguias.
The audit team included Lead Auditor Marlon Louis Almazan and John Francis Faustorillo, Jr.
The four-day assessment involved random sampling, interviews with key personnel and process owners, process observations, and record verifications.
The audit concluded on October 8, 2026, with a closing meeting where the auditors presented their findings—highlighting opportunities for improvement and non-conformities that must be addressed. Following their presentation, the audit team recommended the continuation of BSU’s ISO certification, depending upon the submission and approval of the required corrective action plans.
VP for Academic Affairs Janet P. Pablo, representing University President Kenneth A. Laruan, expressed commitment and gratitude to the auditors.
“We commit to shaping minds, transforming communities, and sustaining futures,” Pablo stated.
Pablo emphasized that the audit reminded everyone that quality is not a destination but a continuing journey—a commitment to refining processes, serving stakeholders more effectively, and continuously improving the systems that support BSU’s mission.
In his closing remarks, VP for Research and Extension Roscinto Ian C. Lumbres emphasized that the audit findings would help the University’s growth.
Lumbres quoted Aristotle, emphasizing that “Quality is not an act, but a habit.” He also cited an American scientist who noted that “Most failures come from the habit of making excuses,” encouraging the audience to look beyond fault. Highlighting the impacts of climate change, he challenged everyone to create innovative solutions and adapt to its effects.
“The success of one campus is the success of the university; however, the failure of one campus is the failure of the entire institution. So let us reflect on how can we help each other to elevate and assure the quality management system of the university,” he concluded.
BSU, a state provider of tertiary education, has been ISO 9001:2015 certified since 2018.//EBawayan, DPaydowan
