As part of the ongoing celebrations for Benguet State University’s 110th Foundation Anniversary and the 126th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary, the College of Medicine (COM) led the University Flag-Raising Ceremony at the BSU Gymnasium.

The event marked the first flag-raising ceremony hosted by COM together with its pioneering batch of medical students.

Following the ceremony, COM Dean Dr. Ruel G. Revilla delivered his message emphasizing the college’s crucial role in addressing healthcare delivery gaps across Benguet. In line with BSU’s vision of community empowerment and sustainable development, Dr. Revilla highlighted the proposal to institutionalize BSU KOM (BSU Kasiyana Outreach Program ti Medisina), under the localized tagline: “Puso para sin Salun-at, Namnama para sin Umili.”

Dr. Revilla explained that the program derives its name from the local term Kasiyana—which represents hope, resilience, and holistic healing. BSU KOM is envisioned as a permanent, self-sustaining, and continuous extension arm of the university.

“By establishing BSU KOM, Benguet State University will not only produce top-tier medical professionals but will actively heal, educate, and empower the very communities that sustain our province,” Dr. Revilla noted.

During the program, University President Kenneth A. Laruan led the university employees in reciting the Panunumpa ng Kawani ng Gobyerno, followed by the singing of Awit ng Serbisyo Sibil.

The program concluded with a message from VP for Administration and Finance Richard H.  Kinnud, who recognized the efforts of the COM for hosting the ceremony with its first batch of students.//EBawayan, NSudaypan, EBawang
