
The Institute of Highland Farming Systems and Agroforestry (IFHSA) led the May 26 flag-raising ceremony.
Following the ceremony, IFHSA Director Christopher P. Deponio gave a short background of the center and its processes and services. He later announced the re-opening of the eco-tourism trail located within their complex and invited all to visit.
Next, Northern Philippine Root Crops Training Center (NPRCRTC) Science Research Specialist I Arlene B. Bautista announced the celebration of the International Potato Day held every 30th of May. She discussed on how the celebration of this day is a way to remember that the potato is a resilient food source that helped change economy, nourish populations, and provide fertile grounds for research and innovation.
After the announcement, College of Teacher Education (CTE) Dean Divina M. Yango announced the results of the Licensure Exam for Professional Teachers (LEPT). BSU La Trinidad listed an overall passing rate of 73.33 percent in the Elementary Level surpassing the national passing rate of 46.77 percent. In the Secondary Level, BSU La Trinidad listed an overall passing rate of 86.32 percent surpassing the national passing rate of 62.27 percent.
Yango thanked the administration, faculty, and staff for their contributions to the performance of the graduates.
Likewise, BSU Bokod also listed an overall passing rate of 100 percent in the Elementary Level and 35.71 percent in the Secondary Level with the first-time takers still recording a passing rate of 100 percent. BSU Buguias listed an overall 36.36 percent passing rate in the Secondary Level and notably, their first time takers recorded a passing rate of 80 percent.
Afterwards, Director for Special Projects and Partnerships Conrado C. Bao-idang announced the University Business Affairs office’s program titled “Taripnung 2025” on May 26, 2025 at the Strawberry Farm parking area. Bao-idang said that the program aims to enhance transparency of transactions between the BSU administration and the its business partners.
After Bao-idang’s announcement, VP for Research and Extension Roscinto Ian C. Lumbres reminded BSU Constituents that the last day of Student Research Congress will be May 26, 2025 and urged the offices concerned to finalize the activities. He congratulated the College of Forestry for submitting the list of winners. Lumbres also gave out a reminder that the deadline for the printed copies of entries will be on May 30 at lunch time.
Finally, VP for Business Affairs Josel M. Florentin closed the program with a game asking non administrative council members what the University President Kenneth A. Laruan’s birthday is with a monetary prize from the president for the winner, this was later followed by a message.
“Magiging kwento ka ba na may kwenta?” Florentin asked as he shared how there will come a time where we will retire from the university and would think about what to do after. He raised questions like “Yung kwento ba nating iiwanan sa BSU, may kwenta?”, “Kailangan bang palaging merong pabuya para gumawa lang ng tama?” He shared how one must not give kindness and expect something in return. “Hindi naman siguro mahirap sundin yung ating sinumpaan, hindi ko gagamitin ang aking posisyon para sa aking sariling kapakanan” he added.
The Flag Raising Ceremony and the short program that follows it usually consisting of announcements, recognition of student and employee achievements, physical exercises, performances and speeches from guests and university officials is a regular activity of BSU that supports and contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals specifically #Goal4, #Goal3, #Goal8, #Goal10, #Goal16, and #Goal17. In essence, the activity serves as a regular platform to reinforce values, disseminate information, and celebrate achievements that directly or indirectly support the broader objectives of the Sustainable Development Goals, creating a more sustainable and equitable university community.//EBawang
