A delegation from the National University of Singapore (NUS) under the Southeast Asia Friendship Initiative (SAFI) conducted a study visit to Benguet State University.
The delegation consisted of 40 students under the Sustainable Forestry Initiative 2054 program led by Office of Safety, Health, and Environment Director Peck Thian Guan. The visit is part of a 10-day study program in the Philippines organized in partnership with Ateneo de Manila University.
The study program focused on key themes aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including understanding Philippine history and civic responsibility, exploring eco-tourism and sustainable community partnerships, and learning about innovation, entrepreneurship, and social enterprises.
During their visit, the students were oriented on the Agribusiness Technology Business Incubator and Innovation Center (ATBI-IC), particularly its initiatives on micro-enterprise development, innovation programs, and incubation services.
The group also visited the Strawberry Farm to observe sustainable agricultural practices and agribusiness models in the community.
The students further engaged with local micro-entrepreneurs involved in strawberry farming, gaining insights into enterprise development and the role of community-based initiatives in promoting sustainable livelihoods.
The activity provided the visitors with firsthand exposure to BSU’s integration of research, enterprise incubation, and community engagement while strengthening intercultural understanding and partnerships toward sustainable development goals.//NBSudaypan
