The BSU Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs (OVPAA) spearheaded the University’s flag-raising ceremony, on Monday, January 8, 2024. The office also welcomed BSU students for the second semester of SY 2023-2024.
The morning began with the hoisting of the Philippine flag along with the singing of the Philippine National Anthem. It was followed by the recitation of the Panunumpa ng Watawat sa Pilipinas and the singing of the BSU Hymn.
Following the ceremony, the office led a morning exercise participated by employees and students. Serenades were also rendered by the OVPAA staff and the BSU Glee Club.
The invited speaker, Pastor John Fianza from Mt. Zion North City Church, delivered an inspirational message the focused on the scriptures of the Bible and emphasized the importance of faith in God.
BSU President Felipe Salaing Comila echoed Pastor Fianza’s message, encouraging everyone to keep the words of God. “Let the word of God shine in you,” he said.
Afterward, 14 newly appointed and promoted employees took their oath administered by the University President.
The event concluded with the recognition of BSU athletes who won during the 34th BBEAL season and announcements from different offices.
The Flag Raising Ceremony and the short program that follows it usually consisting of announcements, recognition of student and employee achievements, physical exercises, performances and speeches from guests and university officials is a regular activity of BSU in support and contribution of the Sustainable Development Goals specifically #Goal4, #Goal3, #Goal8, #Goal10, #Goal16, and #Goal17. In essence, the activity serves as a regular platform to reinforce values, disseminate information, and celebrate achievements that directly or indirectly support the broader objectives of the Sustainable Development Goals, creating a more sustainable and equitable university community. //EMB
