Benguet State University (BSU) has advanced its global standing in sustainability, climbing to the 601–800 band in the recently released Times Higher Education (THE) Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026.
The university previously held a spot in the 801–1000 band in 2025.
The THE Sustainability Impact Ratings—formerly known as the THE Impact Rankings—is the only global initiative that assesses higher education institutions based on their contributions to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This year’s edition evaluated 1,646 universities across 116 countries and territories.
BSU was assessed across 12 of the 17 SDGs, showing marked improvements in multiple indicators. The university achieved its highest global placements in SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) and SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), both landing in the 201–300 bracket after jumping from the 401–600 band last year.
Significant leaps were also recorded in SDG 4 (Quality Education), which surged from the 1001–1500 band to 401–600, and SDG 5 (Gender Equality), which rose to the 301–400 bracket.
The university also improved its standing in SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), SDG 13 (Climate Action), SDG 15 (Life on Land), SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). Meanwhile, it maintained its 401–600 ranking for SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities).
BSU first joined the global assessment in 2023, initially receiving evaluations for only four SDGs.
Detailed reports on the specific community actions, research outputs, and sustainability projects behind the university’s rising scores are publicly available on the BSU International SDG portal.
