Students and faculty members from the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University – Mid La Union Campus, conducted a plant visit at Benguet State University’s Food Science Research and Innovation Center (FSRIC) and the Agri-based Technology Business Incubator/Innovation Center.
The visit aimed to provide students with practical exposure to food processing operations, quality assurance systems, and professional practices relevant to their academic curriculum.
Led by Sherry Lou B. Fabros, a faculty member and plant tour coordinator of the Department of Food Technology, the group was welcomed by FSRIC Director Lesley Dale G. Umayat and had a short orientation about the Research and Extension Sector including the services provided and overview of FSRIC.
To gain insights into industrial operations, students toured the facilities in groups to observe food processing machinery and protocols. The visit concluded with a tour of the strawberry farm. BSU accommodates benchmarking activities and field trips from schools, Local Government Units, National Line Agencies, and Non-Government Organizations with the intent to promote collaboration in various areas that may lead to multi-stakeholder partnerships in support of #SDG17.//DPaydowan
