STUDENT DEVELOPMENT SERVICES
STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS AND ACTIVITIES UNIT
As a Unit of the Office of Student Services (OSS), the Student Organizations and Activities Unit (SOAU) first and foremost accredits, supervises, and evaluates recognized student organizations’ activities. The unit also provides avenues for the enhancement of leadership and citizenship skills.
FUNCTIONS
- Facilitate the processing and screening of applications of student organizations for recognition;
- Monitor the activities of the recognized student organizations (RSO);
- Coordinate with the College Dean and with the RSO advisers on matters concerning the RSOs;
- Evaluate the RSOs’ performance for the School Year;
- Recognize the outstanding contributions of student leaders and recognized student organizations, and
- Endorse invitational training programs, seminars/workshops, and competitions to the colleges (e.g. Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines (TOSP), Ayala Young Leaders Congress (AYLC), Outstanding Student Leaders of the Philippines (OSLP) and the like).
PROGRAMS
ACCREDITATION OF RECOGNIZED STUDENT ORGANIZATION (RSO)
Refers to the formal recognition by a college or university-based organization that meets the specific standard and criteria set by the OSS Accrediting Committee. This process ensures that the organization is aligned with the university’s goals, organized and accountable, engaged and inclusive, and compliant with policies.
MONITORING
Monitoring of RSO and Student-Related Activities involves overseeing and assessing the various activities conducted by students and their organizations to ensure compliance with the institutional policies, promote safety, and enhance the overall student experience.
EVALUATION
The process of assessing and evaluating RSO performance and its effectiveness, impact, and alignment with the organization and university goals.
STUDENT LEADERSHIP PROGRAM
It is designed to equip students with the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to take on leadership roles within their school, communities, or extracurricular activities. It also includes Conducting/Endorsing Student Competitions and Awards and Conducting/Endorsing Leadership Training, Seminars, Fora, & Symposia.
SERVICES
Student Leadership Training
These can be offered through workshops, seminars, mentorship opportunities, and extracurricular activities that empower students to lead initiatives, influence their peers, and positively contribute to other students.
OSSHayao
“OSShayao” comes from the contracted words “OSS” and “dayao”, the local word for praise. This is the annual event conducted to honor the achievements of student leaders and the outstanding performance of recognized student organizations.
Activity Permit (In-Campus & Off-Campus Activities) Approval
An activity permit is a formal document that a student/RSO must process before conducting certain activities. SOAU assists them in obtaining the necessary permits and attachments for various activities to ensure that the activity is planned, safe, properly coordinated, and compliant with the university’s goals.
Basic Support Services to Clients
This service includes offering assistance to clients, providing information and guidance, resolve issues to ensure their needs are met. This involves phone, email, chat, and SMS support for inquiries, assisting with student activities, and guiding through common problems via FAQs or suggestions. The ultimate goal is to ensure client satisfaction and smooth transaction.

APPROVAL OF ACTIVITY PERMIT (IN-CAMPUS ACTIVITY / OUT-OF-CAMPUS ACTIVITY)
This service is provided to BSU students, faculty members, and employees seeking approval to conduct activities within and/or
outside the BSU La Trinidad Campus.
