The TMDU is concerned primarily with the delivery of testing services through the preparation, administration, scoring, and interpretation of psychological tests for specific purposes. It also develops materials such as survey forms and questionnaires to be used in researches in relation to testing and other services, programs, and activities of the OSS.

FUNCTIONS

  • Administers psychological tests to objectively evaluate incoming primary pupils, high school students and college freshmen to the curricular programs of the University;
  • Administers psychological tests to elementary, high school, undergraduate and graduate students for specific purposes;
  • Administers psychological tests to referred students as part of guidance and counseling, remedial training and special education, and
  • Administers psychological tests to external clients as part of extension services.

SERVICES OFFERED

  • The OSS-SWS-TMDU administers. scores, and interprets psychological tests to:
    1. Students of Benguet State University who are referred as part of Guidance and Counseling
    2. Requesting Party for Psychological Testing
    3. External Clientele as part of Extension Services. Extension testing services can be availed of by school and community groups in Benguet and adjacent provinces that lack the necessary materials and trained personnel for psychological testing
    4. Applicants for Benguet State University Admission Test (Incoming Elementary pupils, High School Students, and College Freshmen and Transferees

TESTS OFFERED

ACHIEVEMENT TEST

Achievement Tests are designed to measure the knowledge and skills student learned in school or to determine the academic progress they have made over a period of time. The tests may also be used to evaluate the effectiveness of schools and teachers or identify the appropriate academic placement for a student – i.e., what courses or programs may be deemed most suitable, or what forms of academic support they may need. Achievement tests are “backward-looking’ in that they measure how well students have learned what they expected to learn.

ABILITY / INTELLIGENCE TEST

A questionnaire or series of exercises designed to measure intelligence. There are many types of intelligence tests, and they may measure learning and/ or ability in a wide variety of areas and skills.

APTITUDE TEST

An assessment is issued to determine a candidate’s cognitive ability. It tends to focus on informal learning or life experiences. They are also referred to as prognostic tests as they are used to make predictions. Some are used to measure readiness to enter an elementary school, complete a course of study in secondary school, successfully complete college-level, and successfully complete graduate-level work, including a course of study at a professional or trade school.

PERSONALITY TEST

A tool used to measure traits, qualities, attitudes, or behaviors that determine a person’s individually. It also measures overt or covert dispositions and levels of adjustment as well – ideographically (unique characteristics) or nomothetical (common characteristics) measured.

INVENTORIES

A self-report inventory is a type psychological test in which a person fills out a survey or questionnaire with or without the help of an investigator. Self-report inventories often ask direct questions about personal interests, values, symptoms, behaviors, and traits or personality types.

RELEASING AND INTERPRETATION OF PSYCHOLOGICAL TEST REPORT FRONTLINE SERVICE
This service is concerned primarily with the delivery of testing services through the releasing and interpretation of psychological test reports.
