Admits students (male and female) to the dormitories and provides services and activities that ensure the comfort and security of student residents.

FUNCTIONS

As a facility for service provision, the Student Housing Unit (SHU) has the following objectives that act as a guidepost for service:

  • To provide accommodation to selected single freshman college students coming from far places who are not financially capable of paying rentals offered by outside lodging houses;
  • To contribute to the intellectual development of the residents by providing an atmosphere conducive to study, social interaction and group living;
  • To help enhance the physical well-being of its residents, and
  • To provide opportunities for residents’ social advancement by emphasizing proper behavior and conduct.

SERVICES

ACCOMMODATION AND MORE

The Student Housing Unit is more than mere provision of shelter to students. It also aims to provide a healthy atmosphere conducive to study, social interaction and group living.

DORMITORY GUIDELINES

To ensure smooth governance or management of the student dormitories, policies, rules and regulations were formulated. This set of controls affords flowing dorm operation under the watchful eye of the concerned Dorm Manager. As part of the levelling of expectations, these guidelines are laid bare before residents during the orientation session usually done at the onset of their stay.

GUIDANCE ACTIVITIES

Beyond the home-away-from-home accommodation, residents get to enjoy group dynamics activities and other relevant guidance programs courtesy of the Guidance and Counseling Unit (GCU) of the Office of Student Services (OSS) under the Student Wellness Services (SWS) Division. For this reason, pertinent information about residents is gathered. These records are responsibly maintained and safe-kept including but not limited to the residents’ room assignments, class schedule and anecdotal entries. Incidental counselling is also provided regularly. Referrals to the OSS-SWS-GCU involve residents with major problems or concerns.

Compiled individual records of residents are as follows:

  • Application Form;
  •  Acceptance Form;
  • Commitment Form;
  • Explanation Letter (for residents with violations), and
  • Promissory Note or Behavioral Contract (for residents with violations).
SOCIO-CULTURAL ACTIVITIES

In addition to the foregoing, the dorm also provides and conducts social and cultural activities such as seminars, acquaintance parties, occasional open houses, Christmas parties and other dorm-sponsored activities. These are meant to enhance different cultures’ learning as well as Polish groups or social morals and demeanors.

RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES

Further to the preceding, the dorm also provides the recreational needs of the residents by having indoor and outdoor games like sports fests, friendly competitions and races, and the like.
