35 BSU Alumni Recognized During Homecoming

Benguet State University Alumni Association Inc. (BSUAAI) honored 35 university alumni during the Homecoming held on September 27, 2023, at the BSU Gymnasium.

As part of the BSU 107th Foundation Anniversary celebration, this momentous event recognized graduates from BSU for their excellence in their respective fields, significant contributions to the university, and unwavering services to the community. The accolades presented encompassed a range of prestigious titles and distinctions, highlighting the diverse accomplishments of the remarkable alumni.

The BSUAAI awarded Islay Erika A. Bomogao as an Outstanding Alumna in Global Icon in Youth Combative Sports for her exceptional excellence in her chosen field.

Myra Zymelka-Colis and Ryan Anthony M. Bestre were recognized as Most Distinguished Alumni for their exemplary figures in their fields. Ms. Colis is a Most Distinguished Alumna as a Global Icon of Socio-Cultural Preservation and Volunteerism, while Mr. Bestre is a Most Distinguished Alumnus in Climate Change Advocacy.

Ten BSU alumni are also recipients of the Distinguished Alumni Awards, namely: Dr. Pelin B. Belino in Nutrition Education, Denver K. Biang in Agri-Entrepreneurship, For. Jessie Boone M. Bosaing Jr. in Entrepreneurship and Wood Craftsmanship, Dr. Ricky K. Cadalis in Agri-Entrepreneurship, PBGen. Andrew D. Cayad in Public Safety, Dr. Cynthia D. Garambas in Food Product Development, Engr. Arnold Raul E. Geronimo in Agricultural Extension, Grail P. Labutan in Agritourism, Agri-product Processing and Marketing, Dr. Dinah Corazon M. Licyayo in Research and Development, and Dr. Percyveranda A. Lubrica in Curriculum Development and Educational Development. These alumni consistently displayed outstanding dedication and commitment to the university's ideals.

Two alumni received Recognition Awards, including Saturnina Pintang-Garcia in Youth Education and Rhys Yvan Dane I. Pawid in Sports, who exhibited remarkable achievements and earned noteworthy recognition in their chosen endeavors.
With their unique and noteworthy contributions to the university and society, special Awardees are also honored in the persons of Franco D. Tacio in Event Planning and Floral Designing and Rose Gambala-Galang in Entertainment.

A group of 14 BSU alumni from the Tublay Municipal Agriculture Office in Tublay, Benguet was recognized as Group Service Awardee in Agricultural Planning and Development. This group was recognized for their collective efforts toward a significant impact on the community. The awardees are Elvin P. Sumayao, Saturnino D. Tande, Engr. Jeffrey D. Sotero, Daisy B. Wallang, Susan A. Lino, Loida V. Paayas, Joan A. Layogan, Leny T. Pucal, Charlyn Y. Contino, Jusua A. Juan, Harris P. Catang, Anita P. Sinakay, Cristifan A. Toring, and Bonie L. Salbino.

Moreover, Maximo and Priscilla Del-amen Family was honored as Family Loyalty Awardee; Ofelia Navaro-Laigo, 90-year-old, is the Oldest Surviving Teacher; Luise Aben-Degawan, 98-year-old, is the Oldest Surviving Alumna; and Prescilla Camdas-Balacio, 101-year-old, is the Centenarian Surviving Alumna.

Meanwhile, BSU President Felipe Salaing Comila and BSUAAI President Ben David S. Luis expressed heartfelt gratitude to these distinguished university alumni and all those who played a pivotal role in organizing this remarkable gathering. 
The university president emphasized that the accomplishments of these distinguished alumni serve as a testament to the university's success, both locally and on the global stage.
