CVM caps Veterinary Medicine Week celebration

The College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) held the closing program for the Veterinary Medicine Week with their alumnus, Dr. Mark Micheal S. Palazo as the guest speaker on March 1, 2024.

Despite Proclamation No. 1941 s. 1980 declaring only the third week of February as the National Veterinary Medicine week, the CVM celebrated the occasion for the whole month of February. This year's theme is "One Veterinary Medicine, One Profession Called to Serve."

The month-long celebration was filled with various learning activities like quiz beez, seminars and exhibits for visitors. There were also outdoor activities like Bull Riding and Lasso Whipping. Participants ranged from elementary students to adults.

From February 1, 2024 to March 1, 2024 four booths were set up within the college grounds containing information on different animals, insects and microorganisms. Live animals, animal models, illustrations of animal anatomy, and preserved animal carcasses were exhibited in the booths. The displays were labeled with detailed information and there are also Veterinary Medicine students who are ready to answer questions from visitors or assist them.

The whole activity was carried out with the cooperation of the:faculty members and staff of the CVM led by their dean, Dr. Loretta Romero; Veterinary Medicine Student Government; Interdependent Study Organization of Students, Veterinary Knight Veterinarians Fraternity; Venerable Lady Veterinarians Sorority; the Rodeo Club-Benguet-State University Chapter; and Dr, Palazo who also served as a lecturer in many CVM activities.

It can be recalled that Dr. Palazo is the first graduate of the CVM who topped the Veterinary Medicine Licensure Examination in 2010.//EBawang
