De Vera inaugurates CHED-funded projects at BSU

Commissioner J. Prospero "Popoy" E. De Vera III of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and CHED-CAR Regional Director P. Anduyan Jr. were in the university to inaugurate the CHED-funded smart library facilities and enineering laboratiroies. The commissioner also planted a tree at the lawn near the BSU administration building last April 21, 2024.

The projects inaugurated include the "Smart Library Facilities for BSU Campuses (La Trinidad, Buguias, Bokod)" lodged at the BSU la Trinidad Library and the "Enhancement of Engineering and Technology Laboratories of Benguet State University" lodged at the College of Engineering (CE). The library project recieved a funding of PhP 7,500,000.00 while the engineering laboratory project recieved a funding of PhP 25,000,000.00. Both funds are under the Higher Educational Development Fund through the Institutional Development and Innovation Grant (IDIG) Program.

The IDIG Program assists higher education institutions in upgrading its instructional and learning facilities to ensure delivery of quality education to all students and produce locally-responsive, innovative and globally competitive graduates and lifelong learners especially in the era of digital transformation.

"I am very happy to be here and I am very happy to see that CHED projects have already been implemented. Since I became Chair, we have been increasingly giving projects to State Universities and Colleges to improve their facilities to make sure the needs of the students are met," said De Vera.

De Vera was welcomed by the faculty and staff of the CE and the University Library and Information Services (ULIS) led by BSU President Felipe Salaing Comila.//STabangcura&EBawang
