Benguet State University included in WURI and THE Impact Rankings

Benguet State University (BSU) continues to make its mark on the global stage, achieving recognition in both the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI) and the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings. The WURI ranking was announced on June 6-7, 2024 while the THE Impact Rankings was announced on June 12, 2024.

The THE Impact Rankings placed BSU within the 801-1000 band among 1,906 universities across 108 countries and regions. This is based on 18 performance indicators that measure an institution’s performance across five areas: teaching, research environment, research quality, industry, and international outlook. THE researchers delved into a massive dataset to create this comprehensive ranking. This included analyzing over 134 million citations across 16.5 million research publications. Insights from a global survey of 68,402 scholars were also incorporated.

BSU’s inclusion in this ranking showcases the university's commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set forth by the United Nations. The University performed particularly well in SDG 15- Life on Land at Rank 201-300; SDG 3- Good Health & Wellbeing and SDG 5- Gender Equality at Rank 301-400; and in SDG 1-No Poverty, SDG 4-Quality Education and SDG 10- Reduced Inequalities at Rank 401-600. BSU's strong showing across these diverse areas highlights its dedication to fostering a healthy planet, promoting well-being, and creating a more just and equitable society.

Beyond its focus on sustainability, BSU has also been recognized for its innovative spirit in the recent WURI rankings. BSU secured a spot within the prestigious top 300 innovative universities globally, ranking at 193rd. Notably, the university excelled in Crisis Management (Rank 11), Industrial Application (Rank 18) and Entrepreneurial Spirit (Rank 64).

WURI uses 13 categories to evaluate universities' commitment to innovative education, research, and community engagement.

BSU was also acknowledged as a national leader in championing gender equality, ranking 8th nationwide and achieving the top spot among SUCs (State Universities and Colleges) in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).
