The Bureau of Agricultural and Fisheries Engineering - Engineering Plans, Designs and Specifications Divisions (BAFE-EPDSD) with the Department of Agriculture - Cordillera Administrative Region officials (DA-CAR) visited the greenhouse facilities of the Northern Philippines Root Crops Research and Training Center (NPRCRTC) and Demo Project of the Office of Extension Services (OES). This is part of BAFE-EPDSD’s preparatory activities to come up with a technical bulletin and design guidelines for the preparation of plans and specifications of greenhouse facilities. The document will serve as reference of the Department of Agriculture (DA) implementing units in establishing similar intervention last May 23, 2024.

During their visit, the group observed the construction materials used in the greenhouse, irrigation systems and the types of vegetables cultivated in the greenhouses.

“We recognize the BSU expertise in relation to the establishment of climate-resilient greenhouse systems, hydroponics or soil-less systems, irrigation systems, automation and agri-tourism farm development,” said BAFE-EPDSD Director, Aroidear C. Rico. He added that the learnings and technical knowledge they acquired will help in their preparation of the said technical bulletin in relation to the implementation of the Digital Agriculture Program of the DA.
