AACCUP revisits BSU Campuses’ degree programs

The Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP) reassessed the undergraduate degree programs offered at the Benguet State University (BSU) Buguias and La Trinidad during the Online Accreditation Survey Visit held on 24-26 September 2024.

The evaluated programs were the Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEEd) and Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd) at the BSU Buguias for Level II and the Bachelor of Library and Information Science (BLIS) of the BSU La Trinidad for Level III Phase II. The accreditation involved reevaluation of these programs under the areas of Extension and Laboratories for BEE and BSE while the area of Extension for BLIS.

The AACCUP Accreditation Team was composed of Benhur A. Asid of the Western Mindanao State University (WMSU), Benjamin B. Mangila of the J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC), and Razil M. Gumanoy of the North Eastern Mindanao State University (NEMSU). They looked into the program documents and conducted a virtual tour of the facilities.

BSU President Felipe Salaing Comila and VP for Academic Affairs Samuel S. Poliden expressed their gratitude to the accreditors for the opportunity to evaluate the three undergraduate programs. They assured the accreditors that BSU would remain steadfast in its commitment to upholding high educational standards for its students.

Comila highlighted the crucial role of accreditors in ensuring the success of BSU's academic programs. He urged the BSU Local Task Force to continue working diligently to enhance the curriculum to benefit the students and the community.

At the closing meeting on September 26, 2024, the accreditors gave their impressions on the accredited programs. They shared the programs’ strengths and development observed during the evaluation process, highlighting the BSU’s extension projects and initiatives to serve the local communities and the well-equipped laboratories to facilitate students in their learning activities.

Afterward, Poliden representing Comila delivered his words of commitment and gratitude, assuring that the accreditors’ comments will be considered for improvement of the programs.

“Your feedback serves as an eye-opener for us as we strive for excellence in our programs, not just for the BEEd and BSEd but in all the programs we are offering in the campus,” said Lemar A. Ablaza, Associate Executive Dean of the BSU Buguias in his closing remarks.//EBawayan
