SUCs and Organizations Benchmark BSU's Best Practices

Personnel from Pangasinan State University (PSU), Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA), Isabela State University (ISU), KAALALAY Foundation, Inc., and the Department of Agriculture- Regional Field Office XII recently visited Benguet State University (BSU) to benchmark its best practices. The visitors showed particular interest in BSU's Income Generating Projects (IGPs), student services, and general administration.

KAALALAY Foundation, Inc.     

The KAALALAY Foundation, Inc., a non-stock and non-profit organization based in Los Baños, Laguna, sent 48 members, led by Executive Director Alvin B. Exconde, to conduct an exposure program on BSU's IGPs. The group was warmly welcomed by Atty. Andres Arnold W. Lampacan, Chief Administrative Officer of the Finance Division. 

They visited various IGP centers and learned about the production processes of BSU products at the Food Processing Center. BSU's Men's Dorm Manager Nelson Politchay and Sariling Sikap Program Officer Johnson Bagtila also joined the visitors and shared their expertise about strawberries at the Strawberry Farm.

Department of Agriculture- Regional Field Office XII    

The Department of Agriculture- Regional Field Office XII sent a team of five personnel, led by Science Research Specialist II Dr. Ray A. Rodriguez, to absorb the best practices of BSU's Agri-Based Technology Business Incubator/Innovation Center (ATBI/IC). The team aimed to enhance their project implementation related to enterprise growth and business management. They had discussions with ATBI/IC personnel, including Project Assistant II Alta Vida Mangaoil, about Technology Business Incubation, network expansion, and commercialization of products and technology. The team also toured the facilities and visited other Income Generating Project centers.

Pangasinan State University - Lingayen Main Campus    

A Technical Working Group for Student Handbook Development from Pangasinan State University - Lingayen Main Campus conducted a benchmarking activity at BSU to learn about the best practices of the Office of the Student Affairs, Gender and Development, and Supreme Student Government in integrating gender and development into student services. University President Felipe Salaing Comila warmly welcomed the visitors, and discussions were held with various BSU personnel, including OSS Director Dr. Angeli T. Austria and Gender and Development Director Dr. Estrellita M. Daclan, among others.
    
Central Bicol State University        

Personnel from Central Bicol State University of Agriculture visited BSU to gather insights, discover new perspectives, and adopt best practices and innovations in institutional planning and budgeting, project planning and management, and physical plant management. Director Donato Wanawan, Director Melvin John Aromin, Evelyn Rosario, and Shiela Mary Basquial shared best practices and answered queries.

Isabela State University    

Delegates from Isabela State University conducted a benchmarking activity at BSU to gather best practices on IGPs. Vice-President for Business Affairs Dr. Norma P. Banania discussed the University's management of IGPs, and the group visited various IGP centers, including the Food Processing Center, Bakery, Marketing Center, and Strawberry 
Farm.

Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College - Laboratory High School

Ms. Maureen T. Sta. Ana and Ms. Marjorie A. Pendaden from Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College (ISPSC)-Laboratory High School visited Benguet State University on May 17, 2023. Their purpose was to benchmark the College of Teacher Education-Elementary Laboratory School (CTE-ELS) as part of ISPSC's journey to becoming a university. They also visited the International Language Center (ILC) and International Relations Office (IRO). They first met with Atty. Andres Arnold W. Lampacan, the Finance Division Chief Administrative Officer, and then engaged with ILC Director Dr. Jordan T. Cuilan and IRO Staff Ms. Raquel Fatog. Later, they learned about the milestones of CTE-ELS from Principal Dr. Rachel K. Maguen, who provided information on curriculum, enrolment, tuition, laboratories, and facilities.

These benchmarking activities have facilitated knowledge sharing, collaboration, and the adoption of best practices among the participating institutions and organizations.//University Public Affairs Office
